Description
This beautiful book contains over 80 beautiful black and white photographs of British rural craft industries, taken in the late 1950s, by photographer Bridget Bishop.
Mostly commissioned for The Farmers Weekly magazine, images include: brick making, butter mould carving, rake making, rush mat weaving, spades and scythes, among others. The images offer a glimpse of a lost world, many of the crafts being in decline even at the time the photographs were taken.
The book also features written contributions from designers, family and friends, who not only knew Bridget but also have a connection in some way to the different subjects.
